Materials

Main Aims

  • To introduce and provide practice of writing a short description of a personal possession

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of Personal possessions
  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about description in the context of Personal possessions

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will share and Ss will look at a Teacher's instagram post. T will ask one of the students to read the caption and then she will ask. What was she posting about? Answer: her favorite thing. What is her favorite thing? Answer: a dog. T will go to the next slide and Ss will read two questions: What is your favorite thing? Why? Can you describe it? T will and Ss will discuss the questions in Open Class

Exposure (8-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1. Gist T will share the jamboard link on Ss chat box and she will also share her screen. T will explain the activity: Ss will have 2 min to read the texts and match them with its photo. 1-B, 2- C, 3- A T will conduct and open class feedback to check answers. 2. Awareness of layout. T will share the jamboard link on the Ss chat box and she will also share her screen. T will explain Ss what they have to do: Ss will have to put the sticky note on the part of the text it corresponds to. T will give them 2 min to do it. T will conduct an open class feed back.

Useful Language (8-9 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T will share the screen, Ss will look at a brief clarification of when to use Capital letters. T will ask them to identify where are the capital letters in the examples. T then will ask Ss to go to the next slide on the same link where they have to do the next activity. T will also share the screen and explain: Ss have to write the capital letter with a sticky note where it corresponds. They will have 2 min to do so and then T and Ss will check in an OCFB. T will move on to the next slide, Ss will look at rules of punctuation and T will ask them to identify them in the examples. T will ask Ss to move to the following slide for the activity and T will explain: Ss will have to correct the punctuation on the sentences when necessary. They will have 2 minutes. T will conduct an OCFB T will move on to the next slide, Ss will look two text they previously used, they will have to identify what is the pronoun it referring to in each text. They will answer all together. 1 minute.

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T will share the new link with the Ss and she will share her screen. Ss will look at the next activity T will explain: Ss have to fill in the chart about their favorite thing (4 min) After that Ss will move on to the next activity. T will change slides and explain: Ss have to write an instagram post that contains all the items on the check list. (5 min)

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T will share the screen again and highlight where the check list and the classmates labels are. T will assign each Ss to a partner and then Ss have to read each other's post. (2 minutes) They will also have to put a check on the criteria their classmates fullfilled. -object -how old -color -adjectives -things it has got -punctuation -Capital letters T will send Ss to BOR so they can give each other's feedback. T will send them back to the main room and discuss further.
