Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology
B1 level
Description
Main Aims
-
Introduce what is anatomy and physiology, introduce only the theoric part so student can be ready to learn vocabulary.
Subsidiary Aims
-
-Define anatomy and physiology. -Understand the different branches of anatomy. -Identify the 11 organ systems of the human body. -Explain the relationship between anatomy and physiology.
Procedure (55 minutes)
-T Greet the students and introduce the topic of anatomy and physiology. -T Explain the importance of understanding the structure and function of the human body.
*Introduction (5 minutes) -T introduce the topic of anatomy and physiology. *Defining Anatomy and Physiology (10 minutes) -T defines anatomy and its branches (human anatomy, zootomy, and phytotomy). -T defines physiology and its focus on studying the functions and processes of living organisms. -T highlights the historical contributions of figures like Hippocrates, Galen, Jean Fernel, and William Harvey. *Branches of Human Anatomy (5 minutes) -T explain the difference between gross anatomy and microscopic anatomy. -T discuss the techniques used in gross anatomy, such as endoscopy, ultrasounds, and X-rays.
*Organ Systems Group Activity (15 minutes) -T divides the class into groups of 4 students. -T assigns each group one or two organ systems (e.g., cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, etc.). -T ask each group to research and discuss their assigned organ system(s), including its structure and function. *Group Presentations (5 minutes) Have one or two groups present their findings to the class.
*Relationship between Anatomy and Physiology (5 minutes) -T ask student to investigate the relationship between anatomy and physiology. (5 min) -T choose 3 students to give the answers. Wrap-up and Q&A (5 minutes) -T summarize the key points covered in the lesson. -T encourage students to ask questions or share their thoughts. - T provide additional resources or readings for further exploration.
