Procedure (41-55 minutes)
Teacher puts up posters of film genres on the board. Teacher elicits the other word for films (movies) Teacher puts up model sentences to explain meaning of 'genre': My favourite movie genre is 'comedy.' I like comedy movies. Students talk in pairs for 1-2 minutes about their favourite genre of movies.
Students are given a short movie review to read with gaps to fill. They will look at the previous movie posters to assist them in filling in the gaps. Students check answers in pairs. Teacher does fb.
Teacher draws a cline to clarify the meanings of the expressions crazy about something, into something and big fan of something. Teacher clarifies form with error correction sentences using examples from text. Teacher drills chorally for pronounciation. Students complete vocabulary match. Students check in pairs. Teacher does fb.
Students are paired up. Teacher will first do a demo of the game. Each pair is given 2 sets of movie posters. Each student takes a set. The student to go first will hold up a movie poster without looking at it. This student will try to guess the movie they are holding by asking questions to their partner such as, 'What is the genre?', 'Who is in the movie?', 'What is in the movie?' 'Is it a foreign movie or a Turkish movie?' (These questions are put up on the wb for reference.) After they have guessed their movies, the second student will hold up his or her posters. While students play the game, teacher will mingle and make notes of any language errors.
After the game is finished, teacher will put up some error correction sentences on the wb and elicit the correct answers from the students.
Students will be given a chart with questions that they will ask their peers. Students will get up and mingle and interview their peers. While students do activity, teacher will mingle and makes notes of any language errors.
