Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of words in the context of places in town

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about music in the context of music types

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows picture about different places in town for example' restaurant, library, cinema, park....etc' and ask Ss, What do you see in the picture ? T elicit the word 'places in town'

Test #1 (3-5 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

T asks Ss to choose the correct answer for each picture picture of restaurant Ss have to choose between (restaurant -library-park) T model the 1st example and give clear instructions 5 minutes choose alone ICQ : choose or match ? (choose ) alone or in pairs ? ( alone ) How many minutes ? 5 T monitors and walks in the class

Teach (7-10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

T shows Ss picture of each vocabulary to elicit the meaning, checking by using CCQs : restaurat : Can we eat there ? Does it make food ? then nominates Ss to pronounce the word Pyramids method. and then the form ( N-V-adj)

Test #2 (5-7 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

T tests by using hot seat game for example the class is divided into two teams and T nominates 1 student each time to sit on the chair and write one of the vocabularies, the team will help their collogue to guess the word in 1 minute. T gives instruction ICQs will you be able to see the word ? No who write the word on the board ? the teacher

Lead in (3-5 minutes) • setting the context

T setting the context by asking a lead in Q Do you know this singer ? what's his name ?

Pre-listening activity • setting the context

T asks the Questions in the book

While listening activity (5-7 minutes) • Students are exposed to the target language

T asks Ss to look at the seven sentences and read them . T informs Ss that they are going to listen to a radio program about a young musician Ss listens alone and choose T/F T asks ICQs : if the answer is correct you right T / F ? (T) if the answer is incorrect or wrong you right T / F ? (F) listen for one time and choose Ss listen and check alone then Ss listen again to check their answers Ss listen to the third time and then check in pairs T provides the correct answers on board

Post listening - Free practice (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ss in pairs ask the three questions for each other ICQs. in pairs or alone ? in pairs will you answer about your friend ? no yourself ?
