Procedure (34-45 minutes)
T shares Google Slides screen T asks Ss: What are you doing this weekend? Or something you're excited about that's happening soon? T demo: For example, this weekend is Mother's Day here in the US so I'll be spending time with my family celebrating. I also have a friend who just got a house so I'll be helping him move out. T nominates Ss to share their plans and writes them on the slide.
T tells Ss: Listen to people discuss their future plans. While you listen, answer these two question about their conversation. T plays audio (2 min) T nominates Ss to share their answers. T replays part of the audio if Ss need help to answer and confirm. T shares answers on slide.
T instructs Ss: Complete this form individually. You are going to analyze two sentences within the audio you just listening to and answer 8 questions. Don't submit your answers when you're finished. You'll have 3 minutes to complete the form. T demos tasks while instructing Ss T asks ICQ: Should you submit the form when you have finished? No. T gives Ss 3 minutes to complete task. T instructs Ss: Compare and discuss your answers with a partner for another 2 minutes. If you finish early, return to the main room. T asks ICQ: How long do you have to check your answers? 2 minutes. T shares answers to the questions and asks Ss if they have any questions about the task.
T shares Google Slides screen to display the affirmative, negative and question forms. T elicits example sentences from Ss using each form and writes them on slide T tells Ss: When using the future continuous question form, it is more polite and a neutral to use 'will" instead of 'are' when you are asking about plans. T asks Ss if they have any questions regarding form before moving on to next stage.
T instructs Ss: On your own, answer 8 questions on Google Forms. Once you have completed the task, do not submit the form. part one is multiple choice and part 2 requires a short response where you will complete the future continuous form using the verb next to the blank. T demos how to complete form, part 1 and 2 during instruction. T asks ICQ: Should you answer all the questions on your own? Yes. Do you need to submit when you have finished? No. T gives Ss ~3 minutes to complete form. T instructs Ss: With a partner, review questions and check answers for 2-3 minutes. Then when you are finished, submit your answers. T asks Ss: How long do you have to discuss your answers? 2-3 minutes. T organizes Ss into BORs to check and discuss answers for another 2-3 minutes. T shows Ss the answer key and asks if anyone has questions about the practice.
T instructs Ss: Individually, you will fill this worksheet with 4-8 activities you might do on a day off, such as meeting someone for lunch. Then with your partner try to make plans to do an activity together, such as going to meet for coffee. Take turns asking each other questions and respond by accepting or decline due to plans or other reasons. You will have 5 minutes for this practice activity. T demos how to complete the complete activity during instruction. T asks ICQ: How many activities should you fill your schedule with? 4-8 Can some activities fill up more than one time slot? Yes. T organizes Ss into BORs for 5 mins while T monitors for FB and help. T reorganizes Ss into new BORs for another 5 minutes while T monitors for FB and help. T welcomes Ss back and invites them to share they plans they made and how it went. T shares several examples of good language and language that needs correction.
