Description

Int this lesson , students will learn some vocabulary to help them to speak about sports

Materials

Abc visual aids

Main Aims

  • To provide students with some vocabulary in the context of sports

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice speaking for accuracy and fluency using the vocabulary that they have learned in the context of sports

Procedure

lead in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T starts the session by asking Ss : what can you see in this picture ? ( a picture about sports ) Then T asks ss whether they like to do sports or not . T gives ss some questions to discuss in pairs . but before sending them to breakout rooms to discuss , T will make one of the ss ask him question 1 as a demonstration to ss Then T asks ss tell me one thing you know about your partner

Test #1 (6 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

T shows ss an exercise A p.22 and asks them to match the pictures with the words alone , telling them that they have only 2 minutes before ss start to answer , T demonstrates the first one with the students . - T monitors very well and provides help if needed - T asks ss to check their answers in pairs after that - T displays the answers on the screen

Teach (10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

T elicits the answer from the students and highlights the MPF of these words : 1- athlete 2- court 3- field 5- goal 6- race

Test #2 (5 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

T gives ss exercice 3.1 p.142 and asks them to choose the correct answer for each sentence. T demonstrates the first one with the ss . T monitors very well and provides help if needed then T checks the answers with them by nominating ss

Free practice (7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T gives ss some questions to discuss T makes ss discuss in pairs telling them that they should find something in common T demonstrates with the ss and tells them that they should ast each other in detail T sends them in breakout rooms then T tells them ( did you something in common ?)

provide the ss with content and language feedback about their discussion
