Description

In this lesson the students learn about earthquakes across this plan teach from the teacher. This lesson we gonna start with some ideas about what they think about the earthquakes, and how they develop, the class continues with the presentation of a dynamic kahoot in which students must identify the images that represent an earthquake, then the activity continues in the patio in which they will have to simulate that they are experiencing an earthquake and carry out an earthquake drill, Finally, an activity is carried out in their notebook in which they will draw what an earthquake is and a list of short sentences about precautionary actions in case of an earthquake.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Present the kahoot to the group, in which they will choose the images that have reference to what they believe is an earthquake.

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Show cards with precautionary actions in an earthquake, indicate that they repeat the sentences that the teacher mentions

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Give the students a photocopy of a mini-reading about earthquakes and precautionary actions, read it as a group and then ask the students to underline the words that the teacher indicates with a color.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Organize the students to go out to the school yard, give instructions to form a circle in the central part of the yard, simulate an earthquake and carry out precautionary actions in case an earthquake occurs.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Give students a white sheet of paper and ask them to draw a picture of what an earthquake is and write two short sentences about precautionary actions, then ask them to participate by reading their sentences to the group.

Feedback (5-8 minutes) • Remember what was seen throughout the session and clarify doubts

Close the class with an explanation about earthquakes so that students remember what they have seen and clarify any questions.
