Main Aims

  • To provide inference and detailed practice in the context of feelings.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification in the context of feelings.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask the Ss to discuss the following 3 questions. 1. How was your weekend? 2. What did you do? 3. How did it make you feel?

Pre-Reading/Listening (4-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Show the students a picture of the painting called The Scream in slide 3, ask them a few questions about it which will be appearing in slide 4, show them a few more pictures in slide 5, then show them the answers to those questions in the slide 6 in a paragraph and show them in slide 7 useful words that I used in the previous slide in the paragraph, ask the students what they think each word means and the provide them with the definition while also giving them examples so they can understand each word better, show them pictures of the words in slide 14 and finally ask them a question about a hypothetical scenario.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (6-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I will have the Ss listen to an audio and have them match the speaker to the question.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I will have the students listen to another audio and have them fill in the blank spaces.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I will ask the Ss how they feel about what the speakers talked about and if they agree with them. And last but not least, have the students pronounce a few words.
