Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of language used for making and responding to suggestions in the context of making plans with friends.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in expressing one's preferences in the context of making plans with friends.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T: Think about the question on the slide. For 2 minutes, say out loud or type in the chat as many fun activities you can think of, for example, going to the beach. I will type them on the slide. ICQs: Do you work in break out rooms? -->NO. this is individually. How long do you have to answer? 2 minutes.

Exposure / Gist Task (4-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Set timer to 4 minutes. T: You're going to listen to a conversation between Tina and Chloe. On your own, think about these questions as you're listening: 1) What is the relationship between Tina and Chloe? 2) What are they talking about? Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Set timer to 8 minutes. Elicit answers from Ss about MFPA.

Controlled Practice (7-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Set timer to 5 min. Share screen (Google forms) T: Can you see my screen? T: For this task, You have 5 minutes to work with your group to fill in the blanks in 1-4, and to match the responses (ABC) to one or more of the questions (1-4). T ICQs: 1)Do you work individually or as a group? -->GROUP. 2)Can a response be for more than one question? -->YES. T: Let's do #1 together. I think the answer is ---- ---- because ---- ----.

Free Practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Set timer to 5 minutes. Share Screen (PPT) T: On your own take 1 minute to think of 2 or 3 fun activities in your city. Then, you'll have 5 minutes in BRs to make suggestions and respond to other group member's suggestions. Agree on 2-3 activities to do on Sunday. Remember to use the phrases from Slide 5. ICQs: How many activities do you decide on as a group? 2-3.

FB/DEC (4-5 minutes) • To provide Ss content and language FB. To correct errors observed during production activities.

1. I will write some sentences based on Ss' correct and incorrect language use during the production stages. 2. I will elicit from Ss in OC if they are correct and incorrect and ask Ss to justify their answers. 3. I will confirm the correct language
