Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide accuracy speaking practice in a situation in the past in the context of earlier actions
Procedure (38-50 minutes)
I will start the class by asking students to tell me about their previous weekend in detail and I want them to mention the exact time of the actions and I will tell them all your sentences should be in the past simple tens.
I will ask the students to tell me which one is the earlier action in your sentences and then I will say we have two events in the past before present tense and I will draw a line and will mention the time of events like this: Event 1 - event 2 - present
I will write some of my students' sentenceson the board in the correct form to draw their attention to the correct format of the TL.
I will clarify the meaning of the TL by writing the past perfect sentences which can be made by an event happened in the past before another event in the past. The I will demonstrate to the students that the past perfect rule is : had +past participle / simple past sentence I will mention that both of these actions happened in the past, but one of them happened before the other and the sentences can be replace with each other.
The students are going to do the exercise 12 A on page 149 of the students book individually in 5 minutes. They will check their answers in pairs 2 minutes and then we will check the answers with the whole class.
I will ask them to write a story and use the past perfect and past simple in their story in groups of four. They will try to write a story about the TL as much as they can. I will monitor them and feedback will be given at the end of the class.
