Main Aims

  • To provide gist, scan and detailed reading practice using a text about Wrong name, Wrong place in the context of Travelling

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of Jobs in the context of people's biographies

Procedure

Warmer & Review (18-20 minutes) • To review the previous lesson.

T shows 2 pictures and elicits the meaning. The words are: Soldier & Prison. Then T asks CCQs for other words: Successful, best-seller, & Interested. Name a successful basketball player. Are Harry Potter books best-sellers? a lot of people buy them or a few people ( 2 or 3 people) When you are interested in something, do you like it or dislike it? Then T asks CCQs for Simple past (to be). T writes this sentence on the board: "I am a teacher" Is it present or past? what do we call (am, is, &are) "I was a student" Is it present or past?

Workbook (8-10 minutes) • To check students workbook

T checks Ss, workbooks to see if they understood the grammar. If there are errors, T tries to correct them. Self correction, Peer correction, & Teacher correction ( last resort).

Lead-in (6-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows some pictures of famous people. Then, he asks Ss these famous people's jobs. Brad Pitt, CR7, Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison ,& Obama. Then he teaches the jobs that Ss don't know. MPF After doing the exercises in the book, Ss are going to play a game. T shuffles the pictures and puts them on his desk. Ss can't see the pictures. Ss come to the board one by one and pick a picture and should say the job related to picture.

Productive Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills.

T writes down the questions on the board. Then, T tells one of the Ss to ask these Qs from him and T answers the questions. Next, T puts Ss in pairs and tells Ss to ask and answer these questions. Then they should change their roles. T monitors the Ss & writes down feedbacks. ( Ss should use the Target Language). Then T gives feedbacks.

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T writes on the board: travel How do you like to travel? Where do you like to travel?

Pre-Reading (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T pre-teaches the blocking words: vacation, book a flight,& cost. MPF

While-Reading #1 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

Ss read part a and anwer the questions.

While-Reading #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks

Ss read part b and put the sentences in order. Then Ss check their answers together.

Post-Reading (4-6 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T writes the question in part c on the board and Ss should answer.

Pre-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T tells the Ss to read the sentences and put them in order.

Highlighting (4-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

If there is time, T asks the Ss to highlight the verbs in the text and ask some CCQs.
