To provide scan and gist reading practice using a text about Sam's plant in the context of planting
Procedure (29-37 minutes)
1. Draw a plant on the board 2. Get them to draw or paint a plant
1. Only show them the pictures 2. Ask them to describe the photos or make a story if they can 3. Want them to do the same with their partners and share their ideas
1. Get the learners to read the text and guess the topic 2. Want them to share their ideas with their partners 3. Ask them to open their books and do exercise D 4. Want them to check their answers with their friends 5. Check their answers
1. Write the sentence "He puts the plant on the glass pot" and read it aloud 2. Act it out 3. Put the pot on the blue plate and get them to find the sentence in the text 4. Put the plant in the glass pot in the black plastic pot and do the same 5. Write the sentences they find on the board
1. Give the pot, planet in the pot and the blue plate to the each group 2. Ask them to act out the sentences on the board 3. repeat the sentences 4. Write each part of the sentences on a card and stick them to the board (the color of cards on which "in" and "on", subject and verbs of each sentence and the nouns around "in" and "on" are written are different.)
1. Write some sentences on the board: In or On? The planet is ..... the glass pot. The glue is ...... the black pot. The black pot is ..... the table. The blue plate is ...... the black pot. 2. Write one sentence, act it out and wait for the answer 3. Erase the sentence and write the next one 4. Do the same for the rest of the sentences
1. Put them in pairs 2. Give a picture to one of the member 3. Ask them to describe the situation in the picture using "on" and "in" to their partner 4. Want their partner to draw what their friend says 5. Give feedback 6. They show the picture to their friend ( each object in the picture is named and "on" and "in" are written on the board
1. Ask students to take a look at the class and make sentences with "on" and "in" with their partner 2. Give feedback
