Description

Grade 10 (students are around 15 years old). However, there are not actual students in the demo, but 4 - 6 IIG staffs (including 1-2 academic specialists, 1-2 school coordinators and 1-2 recruiters) pretending to be your students.

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Speaking part 2 IELTS in the context of Shopping

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of Affort, All sorts of, atmosphere, convinient, keen on, out-of-the-way, place, original, selection, traditional, trying on, readonable in the context of shopping

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

a slide will be shown on the board. the students will be in groups and they will try to answer the questions on the slide looking at the pictures.

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

the sudents will be asked to do the excersises on their books in 3 mins. then there will be a pair work in 1 min.and the answers will be shown them on the slide two and three 2 mins.

Highlighting (8-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

for highlighting the key things. the students are supposed to get in to two groups then they will play the game on: https://www.baamboozle.com/classic/1618311/2. the winning team will be praised by clapping.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the method, form of note taking in the target language

the students will look at their books and listen to an audio recording. then they will talk about the audio recordng in pairs for 1 minute. then slide 5 will be shown on the board and the teacher starts taking notes in 1 min then he starts speaking for 2 mins based on his notes.

Controlled Practice (4-7 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

the students will be asked to write notes like those of the book or their teacher's in 1 min. then the teacher asks for the number of the words written and if they have written words or sentences. he also walks around the class to check their not taking.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

the 4 parts of marking will be explained based on side 6 and the students will be paired up one marking and the other one speaking based on his/her notes. then the tudents will change roles.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

at this stage the students will listen to the third recording and they will exchange their notes to speak again using the intonation technics and their friends notes.
