Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start by a photo of a party what do people usually talk about? (life, work, children, food, clothes...) What do they say about clothes? color, I like your dress.... etc. Then try to elicit the word compliment from them.. Then I will ask them, as they have finished a reading lesson about lying to speak in pairs, Are compliments lies? How do you feel about compliments? How do you feel about lies?

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

I will a recording of 4 parts, I will ask them first to match the photos with the conversation numbers, then I will ask them to listen again to find what have they complained about. I will pair check and feedback the answers

Useful Language (3-5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

For clarifying the useful language they should use during their speaking, I will give them a "matching" H/O for matching the compliment with the possible acceptance reply. notifying them that a compliment might have more than 1 way to reply with. Then feedback.

Productive Task # 1 (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

As a first speaking opportunity, they will play the game: "Compliment battle" I will give each one of them a sticker card and tell them to mingle and speak to every one in the class and pay them a compliment for the sticker they have and accept their compliments on the stickers they have themselves.

Feedback and Error Correction (2-3 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Then I will monitor while the speaking task and make a delayed feedback and error correction

Productive Task #2 (10-15 minutes) • To provide another opportunity to practice target productive skills

There will be role cards on the wall with different contents as one of the pair will be a guest and the other one is the host and they shall speak according to the mentioned content
