In this lesson students will learn how to listen to audio file and answer the question about people's abilities

Materials

Abc pictures ,audio file , data show / speaker

Main Aims

  • To provide an atmosphere for learners to improve their listening skill by answering the questions related to the lisdtening without stress

Subsidiary Aims

  • To strengthen the learners ' writing by teaching how to take notes correctly

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To engage students with the topic of the lesson

Teacher shows students some pictures to elicit public abilities that any human can have. teacher asks some questions from students with the modal "can" like: " What can you do? What can your classmate do? " : Students share with the whole class what they were talking about

Pre-teach language (8-10 minutes) • To enable students to do the listening tasks.

Teacher tells students they are going to listen to two conversations about people talking about their abilities but before that they have to learn the words that can help them understand the task better. Matching activity- Students match 3 words with their definitions. (of course: certainly, surely) students will check their answers with the whole class ( pair-check)

Listening for gist (10 minutes) • To give students a general idea of the text.

Teacher wants students to do the first task. Students look at the pictures and say what they can see. After listening to the file, students put the pictures in order. Then, students check their friends' answers. Teacher can write the correct answers on the board.

Listening for detail (10-15 minutes) • Students will have a deeper understanding of the text.

Teacher wants students to do anther task. Teacher read 3 questions related to the file. Students listen to the file again and answer the questions. Finally, teacher acknowledge the answers.

Follow-up (10 minutes) • To give students an opportunity to develop their productive skills of speaking. To personalize the topic of the text.

Teacher wants students to discuss the abilities in the file in groups. Students say which ability they like to have. Then, they share ideas with the whole class.
