Main Aims

To provide clarification of Should in the context of Graham's advice column in a newspaper

Subsidiary Aims

To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of giving advices

Procedure (32-39 minutes)

Highlighting (3-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will select some sentences with should from the text and write them on board and I ask my students to find or give me similar examples

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will start asking CCQ questions like if these sentences have specific time or if third person changes the verb and about the meaning of should in general. also teaching them negative and question form.

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

the students are going to the exercise on page 141 individually and check in pairs. the answer will be checked with the whole class. they have 8 minutes.

Free Practice (11-13 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

the students are going to the exercise on page 62 exercise c and work in pairs. the answer will be checked with the whole class. they have 10 minutes.
