In this lesson the students are going to learn some new vocabularies about vacation and relationship. They will focus on comprehending the text.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist, detailed and scan reading practice using a text about Right place with wrong person in the context of traveling, relationship

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of a vacation and relationship in the context of traveling and partner

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start talking about my trip to Thailand and my companions. I will explain them what happened in our trip and I will say a good travel depends on their companions. Then I will ask them about their experience of their last vacation.

Pre-Reading/Listening (12-15 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this stage I will teach them some new vocabularies of the text by using some pictures to help them learn better. The students are going to talk about their interests about the great vacation that they want to be there. The students are going to answer the question: which do you prefer ... ? for example: going abroad or going on vacation in your country/ going by car, bus, plan, or train/ going to the beach or going to the city/....

While-Reading/Listening #1 (1-2 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The students are going to answer the question: Where did he go on vacation? / Who did he go with?/ Where did he stay? /... Then they are given about 2 minutes to read the first paragraph and share their answer with the class.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The students are going to read the text deeper and answer some questions in part a on page 12. They will check their answers in pairs and then with the whole class.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The students are going to be divided into of 3 and discuss the good things and bad things about their vacation and their companions.
