Procedure (37-52 minutes)
to commence the lesson, i will first give an introduction about myself, and my experiences, during which i will make some sentences using present continuous and simple present verbs to familiarize my students with the target lanquage.
to further expose the students to the target language, i will provide a preliminary explanation of verbs and their function in sentences, and then i will bring in the timeline to further explain the application of verbs in the context of present time.
After providing the students with some raw definitions of verbs and their tense forms with regards to the present tense, i'll write the structure of the present continuous verb in the present tense, and give examples to elicit the function and meaning. i will then show the differences between the present continuous and simple present tense, and also make examples for the simple present verbs and their usage.
to further clarify the meaning and distinctions of the target language, i will classify the different forms of present continuous, that is; the Affirmative, the Negative, and the interrogative forms of present continuous verbs. then for more clarification i allude to the concept of dynamic and stative verbs which can definitively influence the target language.
for the controlled practice, I'll have the students open their books on Pg 127, and complete exercises a and b
for the free practice, I'll have the students prepare sentences which contain both the present continuous verb tense and simple present verb tenses to further illustrate their understanding of the target language taught during the class
