Description

In this lesson the students are going to learn some prepositions of time and place in the context of a memory. The students are going to focus on comprehending the text.

Abc pictures

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about a couple's picture in 19s.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of prepositions of time and place in the context of an interesting memory

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher wants students to talk about an interesting memory, something that has remained in their mind and will never forget.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this stage the teacher is going to show some pictures of people in different places at different times. The students are going to guess the correct preposition for each one and check with their partner, and at the end with whole class.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (1-2 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The teacher wants students to look at the picture of the text and then read the blue sentence as topic and answer the question: What is the newspaper's weekly feature? they are given about 2 minutes to read and share their answer with the class.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

In this stage the students are given 15 minutes to read the text deeper and answer some information and yes/no questions about the text. They will check their answers with a partner and then share with the whole class.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The students are going to be divided into groups of 4 and show a photo of themselves to their teammate and tell them its story.
