Students will be able to review and use vocabulary from this week's reading tasks. They will know the meaning and form of all irregular verbs and be able to use them in a sentence. Students will review all prepositions and be able to talk about locations in a town. They will practice KET listening part 1.
Subsidiary Aims
-
Students will be able to form complex sentences with adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, and adverbs in both spoken and written language. They will be able to listen for specific information.
Procedure (54-61 minutes)
Greet students, ask about day. Ask student to tell me the date, weather, and time.
Ask to ss to read the cloze sentences and ask CCQs to set context. Ss matches words to sentences. Solicit form or meaning of other words, draw pictures and provide synonyms to correct any mistakes.
Solicit meaning of a preposition. Ask ss to match words to photos. Ask CCQs to reaffirm meaning; solicit opposites. Highlight difference between active and static prepositions: in vs into. Solicit sentences to reaffirm meaning, form, and pronunciation.
Show ss the town map. Solicit the name of the town (ss invents it.) Ask the ss where the theatre, swimming pool, and zoo are, in relation to other buildings. Ss should respond using correct prepositions. Teach complex use of in/on/at via cloze sentences. Ss should say "at the end of," "on .... street" and "in ..... Town." Ss speaks while teacher writes.
T will write a single verb on the Jamboard with no context. T will solicit a sentence from the ss, which must include a detail that shows the ss understanding. If ss is unable to produce a sentence or produces an incorrect sentece, T will either draw a picture to aid the ss or write a sentence and solicit the meaning. Then, t will solicit a new sentence in past and T and S will draw together. Verbs to review: spend, think, break, get, mean, buy, fly, let, give. (time dependent.)
T will solicit Listening Part 1 procedure. T and S will read example question and ask CCQs to ensure understanding. Ss will explain why the sample answer is correct. T will ask ss to read questions before listening and solicit meaning of any potentially dubious vocabulary. T will solicit nuances and meaning of all pictures in answer, ensuring that the student knows the nuance of the specific information they will be asked to identify in the listening. Ss completes listening part 1 practice with help of T where necessary.
Play pictionary with ss if time permitting.
Explain homework to student, congratulate ss on his performance and say goodbye.
