Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I start to talk about my previous travel on the last holiday and how I've pent that while I was really in pain and sick. And I use past form of the verbs then.

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Now I ask my students to indicate their last holiday and I additionally write the verbs they use on the board.

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I'll ask for volunteers to tell us if they know the base form of the words that I've written on the board on the previous stage. Then I'll ask the class to make some sentences in the simple past and past continuous tense and change his\her sentences to negative and question form.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I'll cover the timelines of simple past and past continuous and focus on the meaning, usage , pronunciation and formation of these two tenses. Then I'll confirm the contents by posting a question of the new content in class.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Now I will ask the students to try to do the exercises on page.......individually , then during checking the answers the details of the content will be summarized one more time.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

I'll write two sentences on the board in simple past and past continuous form and ask the students to change each sentence to negative, WH question and information questions.

Free Practice (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I'll play a video of my last trip and ask the students to talk about what I did and what I was doing during the clip
