Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of Present Simple questions and short answers (He, she it ) in the context of Free time activities

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about like , don't like in the context of free times activites
  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about Like, dont like in the context of Free time activities

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T writes a a date on the board and tells Ss that it is very important for him.asks them to guess what happened on that day. T " It was the first time to go with my fiancee , it was our first ......." T elicits the word date from Ss. Then asks Ss to talk about their first date to the class.

Pre-Reading/Listening (4-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T introduces the idea that some TV shows help people to chose a first date.Now we are going to one of these TV shows called First date . . T " Now, we are going to listen to information about Mark . T: Write four things Mark likes and one thing he doesn't like., Work on your own. Check in pairs .

While-Reading/Listening #1 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Ss now read the lesson and check the four things that Mark like and the one thing that he doesn't like. FB: T asks Ss to underline the four things that Mark like and the one thing that he doesn't like. T asks Ss to tell him the correct things.

Post-Reading/Listening (6-8 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T tells students that " Now you are going to guess to match Mark's questions with the presenter's answers . You will work on your won then work then check in pairs" ICQ :T "Are we going to listen to the questions ? Ss we will match" CCQ1 : Whs is asking the questions ? Ss Mark CCA2: Whos is answering the questions? Ss the presenter . Ss match and check in pairs. While the students are matching , the teacher tacks the question on the board. T asks Ss to come to board and write their answer next the question . T gets WC consensus. T " Now we will listen and check answers " FB: T asks Ss to tell the answers order . T tacks the answers on the WB next the questions and check Ss consensus.

Grammar Clarification (10-12 minutes) • Students can make questions and short answers in Present Simple tense (he/she/ it)

T introduces Exercise 8 to the Ss " Now you are going to write questions with she , you will work individually and then check in pairs" ICQ:" are we going to listen" ? Ss :" No" Ss work individually and then check in pairs. Ss listen and check their answers. CCQ1: Can I replace she with Shirin? can we use these question with he ?.

Semi controlled Practice Speaking (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice
