Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start the class by talking about a possible situation in future with examples. I will explain that in detail.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will ask students to talk about a possible situation in future in a conditional tense.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will write some of my students' sentences on the board in the correct form to draw their attention to the correct format of the TL.

Clarification (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will clarify the meaning of the TL by writing the first conditional sentences which can be made by stating the condition part first, followed by the result part, or by stating the result part first, followed by the condition part. Students will have a grasp of the basic structure of the first conditional form ,using examples, I will demonstrate to students that the condition part is stated using IF+ the present simple tense. and then I will write for them the result part is stated as Will/Won't +the base verb.

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to do the exercise 8B on page 141 of the students book individually in 5 minutes. They will check their answers in pairs in 2 minutes and then we will check the answers with the whole class.

Semi-Controlled Practice (4-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

I will ask them to tell more examples about themselves with TL.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask them to talk about their possible situation in future in groups of four. They will try to give more example about the TL as much as they can. I will monitor them and feedback will be given at the end of the class.
