Main Aims

To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about The Wonders of our Universe in the context of The Solar System

Subsidiary Aims

To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a Debate in the context of The Universe and The Solar System

Procedure (40-60 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I am going to engage with the students and see what words they know with the help of photos, after that I will teach them the new words.

Presentation (15-20 minutes) • To get the gist of the lesson and then going in details

I am going to ask some interesting questions and then check the answers. Todays reading includes 3 parts, I will ask them to first skim and give them time, after that, I will ask them some general questions. Then I will ask them to scan the reading, this time I will give them more time to read and then I will go in details.

Practice (10-15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to answer the questions written in their books.

Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I am going pair up the students and ask them to talk about today`s lesson and provide a summery of what they learned.
