Description

In this lesson students are supposed to move gradually from a receptive skill into a productive one, although the receptive skill is still the main aim. during the lesson students are supposed to speak in the context of " Festivals" and as a final task they will be asked to write about the same topic.

Main Aims

  • to develop receptive skills ( Reading and Listening) in the context of Festivals

  • To develop productive skills ( Speaking and Writing) in the context of Festivals

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will provide pictures of different words related to the topic ( wagon/ magnifying glass/ Tent/ Wheel/ bathtub) and ask SS what they see and elicit answers.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T will then ask SS to have a look at the pictures in p.60 and ask what these people are doing. and elicit answers.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

.T will ask SS to read ( Gist Reading/Skimming) and do (Ex 3.p.60) where they read the text and match the headings with the paragraphs. SS will skim the text while listening to it and answer individually. After they finish, T will ask them to check their answers in pairs. T will then provide feedback

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T will ask SS to read again (Detailed Reading) and tick the correct sentences and cross the false ones according to the text. (Ex 4 p.60) T will play the Audio track for a second time to help SS understand. T will ask SS to check their answers in pairs. Then give feedback

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes)

T will ask SS which Festival they would like to go and why T will ask SS to work in groups of 3 and discuss these questions After they finish, T will ask SS about their partners.
