Main Aims

  • To provide practice of Present simple affirmative in the context of tv shows

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide students with a context to talk about their favorite TV show

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows the picture of some Tv shows to and let the students talk about their favourite. Do you know this TV show? Can you name any of the characters?

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Ss Read the text. Then answer the questions. ICQ: do you answer the questions before or after reading the text? 1 Which characters in the show work together? 2 Which characters live together? 3 Can you name any other TV shows about friends? Pair check Individual check

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T shows highlights the verbs and ask the Ss to tell hem what they are v?adj?N? When does it talk about? Do all of them have s at the end? Are they always true? Do they happen regularly?

Clarification (6-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T gives them the box and asks them to fill it in pairs based on the reading, then he checks individually. T writes verbs on the board with subjects and teaches the difference between third person and others.

Controlled Practice (4-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T asks Ss to complete the sentences about The Big Bang Theory. Use the present simple affirmative form of the verbs. ICQ: Do you write positive or negatives? Do you use any verb or in the box? Check in pairs then individually.

Free Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T asks Ss to work in pairs. Think of a TV show about a group of friends or a family. Tell their partner three facts about the show. Can your partner identify it? ICQ: Alone or in pairs? Talk about a tv show or a book? 3 facts or 1 fact? T writes some of the good and problematic sentences on the board and gives feedback
