Description

In this lesson.Ss will practice how to read for specific information.First they will get familiar with some new words and phrases and then they should match them to the appropriate people.Then they should find the synonyms of those words and then they will have 2 speaking activities.In first one they have to discuss about the information in the text and on the second one they will personalise the topic and will talk about their own experiences when they were rebel.

  • To provide detailed and scan reading practice using a text about Celebrity rebels

Subsidiary Aims

  • Freer speaking practice for fluency

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

First,i will make sure if they know the meaning of rebel.Then will give some examples of me rebelling when i was a teenage.They will be given some time to discuss the meaning and think of somebody they know as a rebel from their friends.

Pre-Reading/ (7-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible/teaching unknown words

I will hold the photos ive got and try to explain them a bit and elicit from them what they are.(the unknown words are written on the board,so they have the ideas)

While-Reading (5-7 minutes) • To provide practice on scanning for the appropriate information

After teaching them unknown words,will move to task 1 and ask them to do task 1.They have to look for specific information and write the names of the people for each question individually.In order to make them understand that they dont need to read each word of the text,they will have a competition that who finishes early is the winner.Then will check with WC

Task 2 (5-7 minutes) • To practice vocabulary by finding synonyms in the text/scanning

Ss should scan the text for synonyms of the phrases and words which are explained in the previous tasks.Then will check it in pairs.While they are checking in pairs,i will monitor them for error correction and understanding and will with WC.

Task 3 (5-7 minutes) • to have a semi controlled discussion about the topic and the text

Ss will discuss about some questions and will report it back to the WC after.

Post-Reading (7-8 minutes) • To get Ss relate to the topic and personalise it and also to have a freer speaking task for fluency

They will have to talk to each other about when they got into trouble as a rebel.They will do it in new groups and then they will say it to the WC about their partners
