Interpret public road signs.
Basic, Grade: 2º, A1-A2 level

Description

Students will be introduced to some signs found on public roads (the street) and they will be made aware of what each of the signs mentioned in class means.

Materials

Main Aims

  • That second-year students can identify the signs that can be found on public roads and know their meaning.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of language used for Identify the signs that we can find on public roads. in the context of stop, no U-turn, school crossing

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • Some trigger questions will be asked about the signs.

- Greet the students and ask how their day is going. - Question the students. - What are the signs you know? - Where can we see the signs?

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • Students are shown some images of public road signs that we can find on the street.

Some images that will be projected are shown and they will be asked what each of the images that will be shown means.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • Show students a video about public road signs.

- Ask the students to pay attention to the video of "English traffic signs". - Ask students to mention which signs appeared in the "English traffic signs". - Question the students. - What are signs used for on public roads? - Give the necessary time to the students.

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

- Ask the students to take out their English notebook. - Ask students to draw and write the signs that were seen in the "English traffic signs". - Provide the necessary time.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

- Give the students a lottery letter. - Give the students tokens to place on their letter. - Tell the students that they can win in a large square, small square, corners, horizontally and vertically.

Semi-Controlled Practice (2-4 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

- Project some images to the students on the signs on public roads. - Ask students to observe the signs and identify them in their notebook.

Free Practice (2-3 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- Ask students to identify in their environment what signs are on public roads. - Ask the students to mention what signs they observed on the street.
