Procedure (38-50 minutes)
I will kick off the lesson with a brief discussion about professions that students are familiar with, encouraging their participation. I'll ask about the professions they encounter daily and those they would like to learn. To add a fun element, I will use a short video clip related to professions, prompting them to identify different occupations.
Next, I will present cards featuring the names of different professions, displaying accompanying visuals. I'll engage the students in a brief discussion about each profession, providing simple examples and visual associations to enhance comprehension.
While discussing each profession, I will emphasize key aspects of the vocabulary, focusing on correct pronunciation. Visual aids, such as flashcards, will be used to highlight the diversity of occupations and their roles within a community.
After the initial exposure, I will address any questions or uncertainties about the presented vocabulary. Encouraging students to ask questions, I will reinforce concepts using additional examples and facilitate active participation to ensure a solid understanding.
We will transition to a semi-controlled activity where students will engage in a memory card game (matching game) with profession cards and corresponding descriptions. This interactive and enjoyable game will allow them to reinforce vocabulary while promoting memory retention.
To conclude, I'll invite students to engage in a role-playing activity where they take on the roles of various professions. This unstructured practice will allow them to freely apply the vocabulary in a simulated real-life context.
