Description

In this lesson, students will address description, asking them to write the characteristics of different people so that they recognize and apply them at the end of the activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of friends and family

Subsidiary Aims

  • Train students to be able to describe people in detail and precision, using varied vocabulary, appropiate grammatical structures and common idiomatic expressions.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Introduce students to the video: “DESCRIBING PEOPLE: HAIR. Inglés para niños PRIMARIA”.

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

- Ask some of the personal characteristics mentioned in the video.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

- Write examples of adjectives to describe a person on the board and ask students to copy them in their notebooks.

Semi-Controlled Practice (20-25 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

- Inform students that we will be playing "Guess Who?" - Ask students to divide into pairs. Each student chooses a character (without showing it to the partner) and takes turns asking questions in English about the physical appearance of the partner's character. The goal is to guess the partner's character using accurate descriptions in English.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- Hand out a worksheet about the topic seen in class, where they describe the person who appears in the illustration of the activity.
