Procedure (34-45 minutes)
students see an image of a couple named Roberto and Julian visiting Istanbul. The SS predict where they are from and what they do. I write their answers on the WB and at the same time i write them in the contracted form. In the end,i write a sentence that is grammatically incorrect to assess their awareness of the plural To be verb.
The SS get on with exercise 6 and answer the questions on their own and then check them up in pairs. While eliciting the form, it is essential to highlight the pronunciation for the contracted forms of You're and Your. The recording can further expose them to the correct pronunciation. this is followed by choral and individual drills.
The class is divided into groups of four. On student is given a card on which their is information about where the other three are from and what they do. The other three are given nationalities and jobs. They ask and answer the questions for 3 minutes .Before they start, i will have a with three of my fellow colleagues. Next, we check the answers up together.
The SS get on with exercise 8 on their own and then they share their ideas together. i proved the SS with clear models just in case. we do choral and individual drills.
The SS are provided with HOs in which they come across details regarding two people's country,age,job and their marital status.There are also questions about where they are at the moment and so on. I ask some of the more energetic I have a demo with one of the SS after that,the SS get together with new partners to go about the task. in the end,the SS take turns asking and answering the questions.
Ss are asked to stand up and mingle. They can also go over to my fellow CELTA trainees to ask questions about their job, age, marital status and where they are staying in Istanbul at the moment.
