Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

•T. shows some pictures of different situations and asks: What's happening? •T. elicits suggestions from Ss (3 min)

Exposure (7-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

•T. shares a text and tells Ss. they have 4 minutes to read and answer multiple choice questions. •T. shares G form link in chat and has students do this exercise individually. •Ss. check the answers in pairs in breakout rooms. (1 min) •OCFB (2 min) Answer key: 1. The writer is rich. (F) 2. If she won the lottery, her life would be different. (T) 3. She would buy an apartment. (F) 4. She could help friends. (T) 5. She usually plays the lottery. (F)

Highlighting (4-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

•T. shows task and tells Ss they have 2 min to look at the sentences and answer the questions: 1) Which sentence is a real possibility? 2) Which sentence is an imaginary situation? •T. shares a link on zoom chat to a Google Slides presentation and has students do the exercise individually. (2 min) •Ss. check the answers in pairs in breakout rooms. (1 min) •OCFB: T. puts answers on Slide to confirm. (2 min)

Clarification (13-14 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

•T. shares screen, has Ss read the sentences and asks: -What do we use in the if clause? (Past Simple) -What do we use in the main clause? (would/wouldn´t/could+Infinitive) (2 min) •Ss complete the table with sentences in Second Conditional. •OCFB. Also, T. asks: -We use the Second Conditional for real or imaginary situations? (imaginary ones) -Are we talking about the past? (5 min) •T shows sentences with: If I were.... and elicts ideas from Ss. (3 min) •Ss identify stressed words themselves on slides and T. highlights pronunciation and intonation in the Second Conditional. (2 min) •Ss do choral pronunciation practice (2 min)

Controlled Practice (3-4 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

•Ss have 3 minutes to do exercise A on Google Slides after teacher´s instructions. •Ss do the exercises individually and then do answer check OCFB. Answer key: 1)

Free Practice (9-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

•Ss come up with two questions. Then ask and answer questions in pairs. (5 min) •T. monitors while Ss. speak. •OCFB. T. will nominate some Ss. to share their classmates or their own opinions about the questions. (2 min) •T. shares a G slide to write down mistakes heard during the follow up and asks Ss. for corrections first. DEC focus on relevant vocabulary and verb form. (3 min)
