To give Sts semi-controlled speaking practice to develop accuracy

To provide accuracy in the pronunciation of "going to" in connected speech.
Procedure (40-51 minutes)
Ask the students to tell the T what they remember from the previous listening session. Ss work in pairs or groups to discuss the exercise. Ss report their answers back.
Give instructions about the handout and check Ss understanding. Ss work in pairs to find the mistakes and correct them. Ss check their answers in groups. Get Ss FB on the WB.
Model a statement from Ex.1 Pg.49 "I'm going to carry on singing". Ask Sts some CCQs: "Is it a plan?" (yes), "Is it in the past?" (no), "Is it in the future?" (yes), "Has he already decided to do that?" (yes), "When did he decide that?" (sometime in the past). Ask Ss to give more examples. Drill the examples with the WC. Drill more examples of positive, negative and questions.
Give Sts instructions about the hand out. Check Sts understanding. Sts answer the exercise individually. Sts work in pairs to Check their answers. Get FB from the Sts.
Drill the previous examples written on the WB. Direct the Sts attention to the pronunciation of "going to": "going to carry on---->gonna /g n / carry on" "not going to forget-----> not gonna /g n / forget." "are you going to play-----> gonna /g n / play" Drill the examples with the WC. Get Sts to practice the new pronunciation.
Get Sts attention to Ex. 2 Pg. 49 Model an example with one student. Ask Sts to work in pairs and discuss the questions. Monitor the Sts and give help when needed. Get FB from the Sts individually about their partners.
Explain the task. Sts read the use the table to ask and answer as many questions as they can about decisions about the future they have made. Model an example to the Sts. Ss go round the class asking and answering questions. Monitor the Ss and provide help when necessary. Get FB from the students about what they remember about their partners.
