in this lesson students learn about the "Modal verb" in the context of relationship. after this lesson the students will be able to use should better in their everyday situations, the lesson will be finished with a discussion task about their experiences with their friends or families and their relationships and what they should've done in those situations.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about Modal verb in the context of Relationship

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of relationships

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage I will talk about that the problem I have with hot plates that I usually don't believe that they are that hot so I feel the urge to touch them and of course its gonna hurt and I always end up saying that I shouldn't have done that, and during this there will be CCQs.

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

in this stage I will ask my students if I should have done that? or if they should/shouldn't do certain things as such.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (12-15 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

i will clarify the meaning by asking some CCQs: (should i do this? yes or no - can I use these sentences about the past future or present? can i use next wednesday after these?) after i that i will elicit the structure from the students to clarify how to form the sentences. ought to and ought not to will be mentioned in this stage.

Post-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The students are going to do exercises on page 64 in 4 minutes and they will have 2 minutes to check them in pairs and then we check the answers with the whole class.
