Description

In today's class, students will learn some verb phrases, We'll first do a guessing activity to engage them and then use pictures and videos in a PowerPoint to make learning fun. Afterward, we'll have a playful activity using a paper fortune teller to practice the new vocabulary and reinforce their understanding.

Main Aims

  • Students will learn some verb phrases( meaning, pronunciation, form) via visual aids

Subsidiary Aims

  • Student will get familiar with the use of future tense( be going to)

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To raise their attention and engage them / Test their prior knowledge

After the greetings, The teacher gives the instruction on the warmer . while giving the instruction, the teacher demonstrates each step Instruction: "On the board, you'll find a list of verb phrases. I'll share a surprise – there are flash cards hidden under your chairs! Work with your partner to match the pictures on the flash cards to the verb phrases on the board. Do you work alone?/ Are you trying to make a guess?/ Do you stand up and come to the board to stick them?/Do we have two cards for each phrase?

Teach/ present (20-25 minutes) • To teach the vocabulary( Meaning, Pronunciation, Form)

1. T shows the slides with pictures and short videos of each word and elicit the verb phrase ( gestures, Miming , examples are provided if the students didn't get the meaning through pictures)+ CCQs 2. The teacher presents the pronunciation of the word and have them repeat chunk by chunk 3. T Makes an example with each word and ask them to make a meaningful sentence with it. ( I want to become famous,...) 4. T focuses on the board and ask them if the word is wrongly placed and replaces it if it is. After that teaches the spelling ( phonetics , parts of speech, prepositions, ...)

Class Feedback and practice (8-10 minutes) • To recycle the vocabulary + preview a bit of the grammar ( be going to)

1. T explains about a game they're going to play with a paper fortune teller and model it with a student + ask them to use be going to Instruction: "Okay, everyone! Time for a fun game with our paper fortune tellers! Look at the colors – red, green, yellow, black – and the numbers inside from 1 to 8. In your groups of 3, one friend picks a color and number. Then, another friend moves the fortune teller that many times. Finally, pick another number inside, reveal the verb phrase, and make a sentence with going to( explain and write on the board) like 'I'm going to become famous.' Take turns, and let's find your exciting future verbs together! Quick Questions: 1. Do you pick the number or color first? 2. After moving the fortune teller what do you pick again? 2. How many are you in your groups? 3. Do you just say " become famous" to your friends? 2. T monitors the groups and make corrections 3. At the end T put the groups in Face-to-Face seating arrangement to share their discoveries ( What are you going to be ? _ I'm going to be lucky.)
