Description

In this lesson Students will learn about the grammar of the future continuous vs the future perfect and will accurately use it in different tasks and discussions

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of future continuous vs future perfect in the context of predictions and activities

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in future continuous vs future perfect in the context of a short film

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will greet Ss by asking if anyone will be doing anything tonight ? followed by a brief discussion of plans for xmas and New Year

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will ask Ss to write down four questions about what they will actually be doing in the near future Ss will interact and report their partner's answers to the class Ss will be provided with a task in which they fill in gaps on future continuous vs future perfect

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ss will be played a couple of audios of from the book and will be asked to write sentences and notice the pronunciation Ss will be provided with some tasks which refer to Mike's schedule I will ask Ss about any questions they might have, and continue

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Ss will interact with the slides presented about the meaning, use, form and pronunciation of the TL Ss will take notes and do follow up exercises Ss will be introduced with the expression "five year plan" Ss will ask questions and i will nominate different Ss to answer

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ss will be played half of a short film Ss will be provided with predictions about the film Ss will finish watching the short film Ss will compare their predictions and asnwers with the class

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask Ss to give two examples of their own of Future continuous I will ask Ss to write their five year plan Ss will share their five year plan and I will dedicate some time for DEC I will conclude the class with a brief feedback and praise Ss work
