Description

In this lesson, students will learn about the parts of their body through various activities and dynamics. The lesson starts with some questions about the body parts you know, then with some phrases, like a song to see what our body parts are. Then continue participating by placing the name of the body parts in a large box. You will perform the dynamic what part of the body is it. At the end they will make a drawing in their notebook of their body, mentioning the body parts that make it up.

Materials

Main Aims

  • Students listen to the names of the parts of the body so that they can identify and pronounce them.

Subsidiary Aims

  • They will be able to develop motor skills

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Greet the students. Ask What parts of your body do you know? What parts make up your face?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Write 3 sentences on the board with drawings about the parts of the body.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Introduce students to the Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes video to motivate them and get their attention. Practice the movements that are observed.

Clarification (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Using the same video, repeat the parts of the body to improve pronunciation. The teacher must say 5 parts of the body, mention how they are pronounced and indicate which one they are talking about.

Controlled Practice (8-15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Show the students a large image of a body and mention that their name appears on some cards. Ask the students a part of the body and arrange the name on the part of the body it belongs to.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Perform the dynamic what part of the body is it, in which the teacher will mention some part of the body and the student must indicate with their hands where it is, in order to analyze if they managed to retain the names and practice it.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

At the end, make a drawing in your notebook of your body and mention the parts that make it up.
