Description

In this lesson the students are going to learn some new vocabularies in the context of pictures that is taken by French photographer in the zoo.They will focus on comprehending the text.

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about one of someone’s favorite place in the fall in the context of “That’s me in the picture”

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of falling in love and doing things for her boyfriend in the context of the picture which is taken by Cartier-Bresson

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher starts talking about her last time that she went to the botanical garden and the things she saw there and shows to students the picture that she took there.She wants the students to talk about the things they know about London and it’s great nature or asks them if the photographer has ever taken pictures of them by accident.

Pre-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this stage the teacher is going to teach the students some key lexis of the text using that picture on page 16 of American English File to help them learn better. The teacher is going to explain the meaning of the words by showing the word in the photo that is on page 16. The students are going to match definitions with the words to ensure they understand their meanings.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (1-2 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The students are going to answer the question: what time of year do you think it is?what decade do you think it’s from? Where was she living?They are given about 2 minutes to read the first paragraph and share their answer with the class.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The students are going to read the text deeper and answer some questions related to the text in the page16 part C. They will check their answers in pairs and then with the whole class.

Post-Reading/Listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The students are going to be divided into groups of 4 and talk about “Is there a photo with them in it that they really love?” or “Why do they like it so much?”
