Procedure (21-30 minutes)
The teacher starts talking about her last time that she went to the botanical garden and the things she saw there and shows to students the picture that she took there. She wants the students to talk about the things they know about London and it’s great nature or asks them if the photographer has ever taken pictures of them by accident.
In this stage the teacher is going to teach the students some key lexis of the text using that picture on page 16 of American English File to help them learn better. The teacher is going to explain the meaning of the words by showing the word in the photo that is on page 16. The students are going to match definitions with the words to ensure they understand their meanings.
The students are going to answer the question: what time of year do you think it is?what decade do you think it’s from? Where was she living? They are given about 2 minutes to read the first paragraph and share their answer with the class.
The students are going to read the text deeper and answer some questions related to the text in the page16 part C. They will check their answers in pairs and then with the whole class.
The students are going to be divided into groups of 4 and talk about “Is there a photo with them in it that they really love?” or “Why do they like it so much?”
