Procedure (35-50 minutes)
First I will go for a short discussion with the sts, I will tell them that It takes me two hours to get to the ITI because I live far away. I will write on the WB the following example, highlighting the word "arrive at": "I leave home at 7:00AM and I arrive at 9:00AM" After that, I'll show them a picture of "train" and "express train" to tell the difference between them. Quickly introduce some new vocabulary that will help them understand the first example better.
Play the track for the sts to listen to the conversation. Have a quick discussion about what they have listened to and have them find out what the problem is. Explain exercise 2 which is listening for details, by giving the first sentence as an example. Ask them to check in pairs, then get some feedback.
I'll introduce the grammar by writing on the WB "My name is Takwa, I am a doctor." to elicit the negative "You aren't a doctor". I will give another example which is a picture of a very famous Turkish actor and write "He is German." again to elicit the negative"He isn't German, he is Turkish".
Give instructions and play the track. Have them correct the sentences individually, check their answers in pairs, then get some feedback.
I will put the sts on groups of 3. Give them instructions. Hand them the cards and let them match. If they get a correct sentence they leave it as it is. If not, they put it in the negative form. I will walk behind them and check what they are doing. help them if necessary.
I will ask them to do ex 2 in pairs. I will walk behind them while they're answering the ex. Give them time and than check it with them. Finally I will have the sts practice the dialogue in pairs.
