Description

My intentions for this lesson are to provide students opportunities to develop speaking skills in a casual conversation and to prompt active participation in some exercises related to the speaking ability.

Main Aims

  • Students will have practised speaking for fluency in the context of talking about cellphones

Subsidiary Aims

  • Students will understand MFP of key language items related to activities you can/could do with your phone.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

o generate interest in the topic T asks the class how many people had cellphone and which one was the most popular at that time? Why? T will ask Ss if it is possible for them to have a regular day without their cellphones? Why? T will ask Ss what can they do with their cellphones? And what they could do back in the day with their first cellphone?

Exposure (12-14 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Teacher will present some charts will modal verbs "can" and "could" and their negative form. After that we will check interrogative structure and make some examples using prompts (some given verbs)

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Teacher will share some tips and ask students to follow the stuctures in order to form some example sentences (affirmative, negative and interrogative)

Productive Task(s) (9-11 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Teacher will assign a slide to each student so they can formulate questions using modal vebrs taught and then they will engage in an interview to check what they can/could do and when

Feedback and Error Correction (5-7 minutes) • To provide feedback on students

Teacher will improve Ss pronunciation with a drilling exercise. Teacher will conduct OCFB.
