Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Co in the context of Responding to hoe people feel.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about feeling. in the context of responding to how people feel.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-n (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T starts the class by showing the ss the pictures and asking them" What can you see in the picture?" to generate interest. - T puts the ss in pairs and ask them to answer the questions in EX.1. - T gives instructions: - In pairs, ask and answer the following questions. - You have 3 mins. -T asks Ss to share their answers. -T monitors and helps Ss with any difficult vocab. -T checks the answers in plenary to move smoothly to the context, - T sets the context, " now we will listen to three conversations about people responding to some problems."

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

-T directs Ss to the listening task " So, Let's listen to three conversations about problems and responses. - T gives instructions for the exposure listening, Instructions: - work alone, Listen to three conversations, and answer the questions. ICQS: - Are you going to listen only, or listen and answer? Listen and answer. Feedback (1 min) : -T asks SS to check their answers (in pairs). -T nominates some SS to give the answers.

Useful Language (7-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

- T asks the ss to listen one more time and tick the phrases people responded with EX.3. Instructions: - Listen one more time and tick the phrases people said from the box. Feedback: 1min -T asks Ss to check their answers in pairs and then with the teacher. - T asks the ss to read situations 1 -7 and choose one or two appropriate responses in the box for each. Instructions: - Alone, choose one or two responses for each situation. - You have 3 mins. ICQs: - How much time do you have? - Are you working alone or with your partner? - Do you only choose one or more than one? -T asks Ss to check their answers in pairs and then with the teacher. - T highlights any problematic phrase ss encountered.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

- T puts the ss in pairs to work on EX. 5. Instructions: - Work in pairs Choose one of the situations in exercise e and prepare conversations similar to the ones you listened to. - Use the phrases in the box. - You have 5 mins. ICQS: - How many situations are you planning? - How much time do you have? - Are you working alone or with your partner? Task 2: - T asks two pairs to act out their conversation in front of the class. Instructions: to the assigned pairs: Now act out your conversation in front of the class. to the class: Listen carefully and say whether or not the listener was sympathetic and why.

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Content feedback: - T listens to responses from the ss and asks why they decided that. Language feedback: - Praise the language of Ss write the errors on the board Ask Ss to correct in pairs them - Correct them with a whole class.
