Description

In this lesson students will learn useful language such as entertainment adjectives and grammar as, like ,such as, so, such. Students will be given a series of tasks to promote speaking

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice with entertainment adjectives and grammar, as, like, such as, so or such in the context of a film or a play

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a coversation in the context of a film or a play

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will provide Ss with some graphics allusive to films and plays I will ask Ss to remember which films have they watched recently I will ask Ss wether they enjoyed films or plays they've watched recently I will ask Ss wether they were good and why and why not

Model (8-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will provide Ss with a picture in which Ss will identify the activity that follows I will provide Ss with an audio in which they will listen to Ritica and Gloria talking to their friend Nathan Ss will answer who is talking ? and what the relationship is amongst the speakers, what have Gloria and Ritica just been to see ? did they enjoyed it? why? why not? whilst the audio its being played I will provide Ss with a group of new Adjectives in a box in which they can notice the stress on each of them Ss will Choose six adjectives from the group shown and write the name of one film, play for each adjective Ss will swap adjectives and take turns to ask to their partner why he/she chose the films or plays (*Ss will have the audio played for a second time ) I will provide Ss with a task in which they will choose correct words/phrases in sentences that refer to the TL from the audio Ss will solve the given task whilst listening to the audio in groups Ss will underline all examples from the TL grammar points in the audio

Preparation (8-10 minutes) • language Ss can use to do the speaking task

Ss would be given some useful language that is used in cinema Ss will be given the aforementioned language's MFP Ss will solve a written task choosing the correct words or phrases given Ss will work in pairs to answer the written task Ss will fill in the gaps where sometimes there is more than one possible answer with the TL

Speaking (8-10 minutes) • To allow Ss to talk about the topics of a film or a play using the TL

I will give Ss plenty of time for them to use their own ideas and the language studied Ss will work in new pairs and will choose a film or play which they've seen recently and that their partner hasn't seen. Ss will work on their own and will write five sentences with as, like, such as, so or such about their film or play Ss will work with their partner and take turns to discuss about their film or play Ss will Include the sentences from the TL where appropriate Ss will be asked follow up questions such as, how were the special effects? who were the main characters? what was the cast ? how was the plot? which were good or bad performances ?

Feedback (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with feedback on content and language based on T monitoring of the task

I will take notes throughout the lesson and highlight some examples of Ss mistakes Ss will get correction about mistakes from other Ss if possible Ss will will be given some ideas to discuss to draw last conclusions (space for compliments and highlight of interesting ideas)
