Description

In this lesson, students learn about family members through guided discovery based on a reading text about family connections so that they will be able to talk about this topic fluently.

Procedure

Lead -in (3 minutes) • To make the students more interested in learning

- divide the students into pairs to discuss these 2 questions ( display the two questions on the projector): 1- what stories did your grandmother tell you when you were a child? 2- what is your favorite memory with your sister or brother ?

Pre- reading (10 minutes) • To pre-teach the difficult vocabulary in order to make the text easier

-Tell a short story that includes the definition of the difficult words .( niece , nephew) - Try to make the students guess the words . - clarify the meaning of the difficult words , ask ccqs about them and then clarify the pronunciation and the form of the difficult words.

While-reading (7 minutes) • To read for skimming the main idea of the reading text

- set the initial task ( how many people in her family are also actors?) - Ask students to read the text in 4 minutes to read and check their answers . - Ask ICQs : Do you need to understand every single word? (No) Are you reading quickly or slowly? ( quickly) -Ask students to check their answers in pairs. - open class feedback.

While-reading 2 (5 minutes) • To scan for specific information

Tell the students shorts instructions about what they will do ( they will answer the questions (activity number 3) after reading the text again. )

Follow-up task (5 minutes) • Speaking

Ask the students to stand up and mingle in order to find answers to the questions that will be displayed in the projector. And then monitor their discussion to make sure that everything is okay Open class feedback
