Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will be asked to discuss two questions on the slides at the beginning of the class. It is to get them familiar with the topic and prepared for the lesson. The questions are "Are you usually free at the weekend or do you have a lot work to do at the weekend? " and " What are your plans for this weekend?" I will answer the questions first as an example and also to give students some time to think.

Text work (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

A picture of live wire and couch potato will be shared to students. They will be asked to guess the meaning of couch potato and live wire by looking at the pictures. Then a reading for details task is given to students . They will read sentences and tick ones that are true to them. After they finish, OCFB will be conducted. Students are exposed to TL at this stage.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Two sentences to express intentions will be shown to students. " I am going to buy a new computer." and "I am planning to buy a new computer." Students will be asked to select sentence with closest meaning . I will try to elicit meaning from students by asking CCQs.( Will I get a new computer?/yes.) Another two sentences "I'd like to buy a new computer.' and 'I'd rather to buy a new computer than a second hand one." are shown to students. Then again the meaning of TL will be elicited from students . At this stage ,TL is highlighted.

As the TL has been introduced to students ,and students already know the meaning of TL. teacher will try to elicit the form of TL from students. Guide students' discovery of the form and pronunciation of TL. Students will be asked to notice the pronunciation with contracted form of the sentences and also how"he'd(would) like to' is different from 'he'd (had)'.Teacher will model and students will be asked to drill chorally.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice
