Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide new vocabulary so students become able to express their capabilities, activities they can't perform, functions devices can accomplish and things devices can't do as well.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher will present a chart with some pictures of different mobile devices and some activities/functions into movable boxes. Then T will ask student if they remember the devices (there will be old ones) and their functions.

Exposure/Presentation through the text. (8-11 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text.

Students wil go to G-Forms to read a the text "Our first colour TV", get the gist and choose the best subheading for each paragraph.

Clarification (14-16 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

This stage will start with the collocation "Black and white" Students will fill in the gaps of some affirmative structure explanations using TL. Then, they will notice the negative forms of TL. After that students wil work on the short answers. Finally, T will presents a set of stuctures to recap what students have learnt.

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will go to G-forms and complete a fill-in-the-gap exercise using TL, they will be supported with some prompts: (+) affirmative (-) negative Once they've finished, there will be a peer-to-peer checking in pairs.

Free Practice (10-11 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students will use TL to form 4 sentences which describe activities they can do now, they could do when they were younger, they can't do now and they couldn't do when they were kids. After some minutes (5) they will exchange information asking and answering each other
