Description

Students will be able to differentiate state verb and action verb and be able to use them in simple and continuous aspects correctly. They will be asked about activities they do while at an airport to prepare them for the topic today. Then they will be asked to discuss two questions related. After discussion, they will hear a clip and tell what activities mentioned in the clip. Then they will hear it again finish a TL gap fill exercise. We will discuss the exercise and elicit TL from students. Clarification of meaning ,form, pronunciation about TL is presented. Then a written controlled practice is conducted and students will check their answers in pairs before a whole class feedback. Then a free practice is conducted in pairs.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice on action verb and state verb. By end of the lesson, students will be able to differenciate state verb and action verb, and use them correctly.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist listening practice for students as they are exposed to TL in audio text.
  • To provide students with speaking practices by using TL

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will be asked to discuss a question "Have you ever had to wait a long time at an airport or a station? Why?" and then they will be asked if they have done any of the activities shown the screen.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

students will be exposed to an audio clip what people area doing at airport. TL is extensively used in the listening so they will have sufficient exposure to TL . Students will be asked to identify activities mentioned in the clip together.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Students will listen to the clip again and do a gap fill task This is to get students' attention for the TL.

Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this part, by checking answers from the exercise, I will try to elicit meaning and form from students. Then I will clarify meaning, form, and pronunciation of the state verb and action verb. Then we will look into them in simple aspects and continuous aspects together. CCQ will be presented to check students' understandings

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

During this part, a gap-filling task is given to students. Students will finish the gap filling individually and check in pairs before a whole class feedback. students and teacher will do the first one together as an example.

Free Practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students will be provided with some questions on the slides.I will set an example for them by answering one of the questions using the target language learned this lesson. Then students will be divided into groups and discuss with their peers for those questions. When they come back, open class feedback is conducted.
