Procedure (40-49 minutes)
Students will be presented with a picture about tipping. I will try to elicit the topic from students and also try to ensure hey know the meaning of tipping. Then they will be asked to discuss three questions related to the topic.
some words are selected from the text to cover before reading. I will try to elicit meanings/form from students by ask if for synonyms or let them guess the meaning by giving the word in the context. Then those words will be discussed about meaning, form, and pronunciation.
Before reading the text, students will get a worksheet for them to make predictions about correct words. after 1 minute, they will get the reading text . They will have 2 minutes to read. Then they will check their answers in pairs before a whole class feedback.
Students will be asked to read more carefully and answer some more difficult questions . The second time reading ,I will give them more time , 3 or 3.5 minutes depends on the time. Then the whole class will discuss together .
A simplified debate about should we tip will be set up for this part. students will be asked to split into two groups and each group will prepare 2 or more arguments about the topic. After group discussion, each group will present their arguments. I will ask if anyone has changed their mind about tipping after the debate or to ask the whole class which teams wins to end the class.
