BI3 U2 L2 Vocabulary: What are your routines?
CM1 level

Description

In this lesson students will practice daily routine vocabulary. Students are encouraged to think and talk about what they do everyday. They will listen to and sing a song about everyday routines. Target language: get up / wash my face /do my homework / have a shower / watch TV / brush my teeth / get dressed / go to school / go home / go to sleep

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson students will be able to use vocabulary related to daily routines to talk and write about what they do everyday.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Reinforce speaking skill: students will use the target language to talk about their daily routines.
  • Reinforce writing skill: students will use the target language to write about their daily routines

Procedure

Warmer/Lead in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1.Settle in 2. Welcome students 3. Ask: What's the day today? 4. Ask: How is the weather?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through visuals and a question.

1. Show students the flashcards quickly and ask them to guess the topic of today's lesson. 2. Write the question on the board: What do you do every day? Model. 3. Students then take turns to ask each other the question. Boys Choose girls. Girls choose boys.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

1. Show Ss the daily routine flashcards and elicit the vocabulary. 2. Ask students to open their class book to page 20 Activity 2. 3. Students Listen to the audio and repeat. 4. Ask students what activities they do in the morning and what activities they do in the evening?

Clarification (MFP) (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

1. Clarify meaning through visuals 2. Drill the Target language in sentences to focus on the form. 3. While drilling the Target language correct pronunciation if necessary. 4. Listen to the song. Listen and repeat. 5. Play snap in Teams. Insist on classroom rules and the importance of taking turns.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Go to www.oxfordenglishub.com and do the vocabulary practice related to the unit with the students.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

1. Ask Ss to open their Activity book to page 17. 2. Ask them to complete daily routines in activity 1. 3. Read the Instruction. Check that the students have understood the instruction. Model. 4. Check answers together on the board. Students come to the boards to write the answers. 5. Ask Students to do Activity 2 (preparation for the final writing task). Students need to number the daily routine pictures in the order they do the activities.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Final Task: Writing 1. Activity 3: Students will write about their daily routine by relying on the pictures they ordered in activity 2.
