Description

In this lesson, students will listen to model language and then practice speaking in the context of restaurants.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T. Shares screen showing Jamboard "Think about the last time you went to a restaurant" What did you eat and drink? Who did you go with? Did you enjoy it? T. gives demo answer "I went to a restaurant last week on Friday. I ate pasta and drank wine. I went with my friend Sophie. I enjoyed it, but my food was cold." T instructs Ss they will be discussing these questions in pairs and that they have 2 minutes ICQ: Are you thinking about it individually or discussing it in pairs? How many minutes do you have? T will monitor in Breakout rooms After breakout rooms T will nominate Ss to answer the question

Content Preparation (5-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the content of the task and provide a listening model.

T will share Google form link in the chat T will instruct Ss to listen to the audio and then fill in the blanks T plays Audio recording (2.9) T will do demo with first question T will have Ss check answers in pairs (breakout rooms 2 min) T will check answers through answer key with a few incorrect answers T will nominate Ss to find and correct the wrong answers.

Language Preparation (5-7 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks. Prepare students regarding the language needed for the task.

Meaning: Can I have the ___ check__ CCQs: what are things you would request in a restaurant? Is Can I have polite or informal? Form: modal verb + subject + verb + article + name of the item Pronunciation: stress is on Can and the name of the item eg (Check)

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T will instruct Ss to roleplay with the learned expressions: Ss will take turns being the waiter and the guest Round 1: Ordering Round 2: having an issue with the food Round 3 (if time allows): Ss will repeat in different groups

Feedback and Error Correction (5-6 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

OCFB on the activity T will do DEC with mistakes heard during the follow up and correct them with Ss
