Description

This lesson presents the present perfect to talk about the recent past, and students also learn to use it when yet, just and already. The context of the lesson is housework. Students begin with two articles about housework. This is followed by a vocabulary focus on common verbs phrases about for housework, and collocations with make and do.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of Present perfect + yet, just, already. in the context of housework (house chores).

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about I hate cleaning in the context of Housework.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students tell the difference between sentences in pairs: 1. I have already finished the washing up. 2. I haven't finished washing up yet. 3. I have just finished waching up.

Grammar bank (10-12 minutes) • To introduce new grammar in inductive way

Students go to the page 132 learn grammar through guided discovery and do activities individually and check in pairs.

Pre-Listening (7-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Students look at the past participle of verbs and translate unknown verbs.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Students listen to an audio and fill missing gaps with appropriate past participle form of verbs. Students do task individually and check answers in pairs.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To check listening for comprehension

Students read given sentences and much sentences with appropriate meaning. Students do individually and check they answers in pairs.
